April 2007:
Store No. 174, Monroeville, Pa.

Store No. 174, located in the Monroeville Mall east of Pittsburgh, was one of the G.C. Murphy Co.'s top-producing variety stores from the day it opened. (Trivia: It can also be seen in a few background shots of the 1978 horror film "Dawn of the Dead"!) Shown here after being redecorated as part of a chainwide remodeling program, the toy department is also  decked out with Easter bunnies (and some "Masters of the Universe" merchandise in the foreground). (Photo from 1982 annual report)
